Life Update

Hello All!
It's been a while so I thought I'd give an update and let y'all know what's going on in our lives lately now that we are within two months til the wedding (58 days). Well...
* Josh is getting promoted to Engineer from Firefighter since he has now completed all the required classes and is just simply awesome. Small pay increase and tons more of responsibility which makes him nervous, but I know he can do it. The only thing he's worried about is giving commands because when the Captains aren't there, Engineer's are in charge. Yay for Josh!
* I started work this weekend back on Isle of Palms Police Dept. Mostly just driving around right now, we don't enforce the meters til April, but with the nice weather, people are out and about. Jealous because I was planning on laying with them but receiving a paycheck is just as nice. :)
* Marley and Cooper are in training. Their next lesson is Tuesday, March 23rd and so far it's been working. We have to work with them everyday as much as possible with barking, sitting/staying/coming on command and food with Cooper too.
* Wedding plans are moving. Everything I can do is pretty much done right now. I pick up my dress on April 2nd and have to turn my ring over to Josh to be welded to the wedding band in time for it to be returned for the ceremony. Josh, Katie and Ryan have to have their dresses and suites fitted soon, shoes need to be bought and some things paid for but most of it needs to be done at a certain time.
That's all I can think of right now but know I've been thinking about all of you and I get more excited for the wedding as the days go by because I get to see you! :D

Inspiration Has Struck

So, I wrote what I honestly feel are three fabulous poems today. They are all different, a mix of fiction and imagination, and inspired for/about my muse, Josh. I thought I'd share. Any comments are welcome! Love y'all!

1)Wedding Day started: 1-28-10

Today is the day. The wedding bells ring loudly in my head
As caterers carefully prepare the greens, the meat, the bread.
Decorations are hung with precision and extravagant care
Candles, chocolates and soft perfumed flowers placed exactly there.

Outside, in the warm sun, chairs are unfolded and set in straight, white rows.
The entryway, the railing, both draped in simple ribbon and detailed bows.
My beaded ivory gown flows over my shoulders and down to the floor
While the bridesmaids dressed in spring green, reassure me as they head for the door.

Mom tells me that she loves me as she moves toward her seat.
Bouquet-holding hands shake as I glance at the mirror filled with nerves and unsteady feet.
I go to the start of the aisle and take my grandfather’s hand as the music begins.
We slowly walk to the groom, I see none but him.

2)Little Moments 2-2-10

Walking down the street
My iPod hits a familiar tune.
As Brad sings about love
I realize mine for you.

Strolling in the hot city sun
I listen as he talks about
Particular moments with his girl
And why they are so special.

Listening helps me realize
What you are to me.
You make me love drunk
And star struck every day.

I can’t hold it in.
Shouting from the rooftops,
Singing in the streets,
I finally found you.

Waiting all my life,
Being with all the wrong people
Makes me see how perfect you are,
How perfect we are.

I silently agree with Brad.
Little moments spent with you
Are what makes my life sweet.
I love you.

3)Love In Charleston 2-2-10

The sun beats down, warm on my head
As I walk along King Street
Passing the stores, alleys and bustling people,
Becoming closer to you with each step.

Slowing by Marion Square, I see a man.
He sits cross-legged under a large tree
Contemplating while reading Poe
As a couple plays Frisbee nearby, smiling.

Moving forward once more,
The blue buds in my ears bring me
A familiar tune by Colbie Callat,
Who begins to sing her feelings.

I listen to her falling in love,
Whispering about her shyness,
And then I see you.
Wonderful you.

Watching you, I see you look up,
Mischievously smile, then drop your head,
Eyes following your feet
Until you grow closer to me.

As your tall lanky body strides opposite of me,
I take your hand in mine as I meet you.
Our fingers collide and twist
Like some dramatic, deadly car crash.

I give a quick squeeze, eyes close,
And smooth lips quickly greet each other.
The sun continues to pound us
As we stroll together along King Street.

Wedding Bliss

I've discovered that being engaged is actually very fun and not as stressful as most people tell you. Planning with the wonderful combination of college classes isn't extremely difficult either. Speaking of planning, I know it's generally more understandable for the bride, bridesmaids, and mother to do ALL the planning and the groom to just show up, but Josh has given his two-cents when he deems it appropriate and most of the time it's been perfectly helpful.

To relay to you every wedding detail accomplished or plotted out this far would make me very happy and allow me to share thanks where it is due... But, first we'll start with me. ;) My dress fitting this afternoon! (Thanks mom.) It was awesome! I'm so excited that it is now only four months til the wedding (May 15th y'all!) and stuff can actually be happening now. Alright so the details... The low-down on the wedding vibe...

1. We have the Palmer Home Bed & Breakfast for the ceremony, though whether it is inside the lovely antique room or the courtyard depends on how many people actually attend. You see, the guest list has grown as distant cousins were added from both of us and the number of people we were sure would attend has now shifted upwards pushing the fire and safety regulations for inside. Not to mention everyone would have to stand because there would be no room for chairs.
*Thank you to my wonderful fiance Josh for letting me marry him in such a pretty place.
2. The Charleston Yacht Club has been acquired as Mom vetoed the small bohemian restaurant I first sighted. It's large bay-viewing room with wooden floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, bar, kitchen, tables and chairs has a nice set up and will be perfect for entertaining all of those who come to watch us wed.
*Thank you to Mom and Pops for splurging even when you couldn't.
3. The one thing that Josh insisted on from the beginning was the food; he wanted BBQ from Sticky Fingers! We love BBQ so it was natural to serve it at the reception. BBQ chicken, wings, mac n cheese, green beans, baked beans, house salads, fruit tray, deli tray to make sandwiches, and a cheese tray. It's all been ordered and I can't wait to eat it!
*Thank you to Don and Ms. Ann for generously helping us.
4. A major part of the decoration is the floral arrangements. They add color to a table and create something to look at while eating some good BBQ. A few days in Alabama and I now have 10 beautiful centerpieces, 2 mothers coursages, 3 grandmothers corsages, a grooms boutonniere, groomsmen bouonnieres, fathers and grandfathers boutonnieres, a guest table flower bowl, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, a tossing bouquet and my gorgeous bridal bouquet. All are very spring-like and will be an amazing addition.
*Special thanks to Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Patsy for buying and arranging the wonderful pieces.
5. A buttercream cake with flowers will be the great centerpiece for it's own table. Chocolate and vanilla mable cake with vanilla buttercream icing. Yum.
*Thank you Aunt Tammy, my good baker relative.
6. The invitations are printed and ready to be sent out this weekend!
*Thanks to Mom and Pops for purchasing them for us.
7. My hair will be done in an up-do on the day of the wedding.
*Thank you Aunt Michelle for helping me.
8. White chocolate pink roses handmade will be on every table for guests to take with them or munch on after dinner and cake.
*Thank you Dad and Tess for taking the time.
9. Wedding pictures will be taken through-out the evening of the activities and a video of the ceremony and reception by close friends.
*Thank you Rick Dickert and Alex Johnson.

I can't wait for the day to arrive, but I know I will miss the fun planning and anticipation building part too. See you there! May 15th! Don't forget! :)

Letter To Copper

I’ve been scared to write to you,
Because nothing seems sufficient to say.
I can tell you that I miss you more than life,
And that I think about you each day.

The hole in my heart is continuous,
As I feel you everywhere around me.
I come home, waiting to hear you bark,
And looking around the house, you are all I see.

My dreams are empty chases and when I wake I cry,
I simply can’t sleep, without you snoring by my side.
Waking up each morning your absence is immediately known,
I would stay in bed all day and weep, but I rise only for my pride.

I would give anything to see you again,
I need you in my life. You’re still my best friend.
If only I’d have talked to God and made a special deal,
Then here you’d still be, instead of at your life’s end.

Almost a whole year without you doesn’t seem possible,
There’s no way I could have survived.
Our walks, talks, memories don’t really feel over.
In your wake I am completely deprived.

I hope more than anything that a Heaven exists for you,
With your rawhides, babies and our Oreos galore.
It’s that Heaven that I’ll go to, to be with you someday,
And all day we’ll cruise in your wagon along the beach’s shore.
